Latest Update

Just cleaned up this post a little to include all of the photos on one post. (The software we use to upload puts them each as an individual posting, which I find a bit annoying.)

Also, to update on how things are going, Marcie, Meghan and I were able to come home from the hospital on Friday afternoon. Friday night was a bit challenging as Meghan was pretty fussy while she got accustomed to her new environment.

Since then, we've had a lovely visit from Grandma and Grandpa Schwindt at which time, Meghan went for her first walk in her stroller. She's also settled down a bit and has allowed us better sleep the last few days.

Today we go for our newborn doctor's appointment and hopefully we'll find out that everything is going quite well.

Thanks to everyone for their congratulations and well wishes, they were much appreciated. Hopefully we'll have a chance to see all of you shortly.

Quick Update

Just a quick update to let you all know that we'll be spending another evening in hospital. Marcie and Meghan are fine, but they would like to monitor Meghan's eating habits a bit longer. Apparently she got her appetite from her mother as she's a bit fussy. This does mean we're available for visitation again tonight (Thursday) from 3:30 to 8:30 if you happen to be in the area.

First Photos of Meghan

At last, some photos for all those who have been asking. As an update, Meghan and Marcie had a reasonably restful evening in hospital last night along with myself. We will be going home at the earliest on Thursday afternoon, assuming that Marcie has sufficiently recovered.

Now for the photos...

Meghan Katherine Schwindt

Well it's happened. At 11:41 AM on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, Meghan Katherine Schwindt (spelling of middle name still pending) arrived into this world, head first and via natural means. She's a very healthy 7 lbs 1.0 ounces and has been nothing but a bundle of joy (and poop) ever since.

Marcie and Meghan are both doing quite well, although Marcie is exhausted after what amounted to almost 16 hours of labour (thankfully the worst part were heavily assisted by the wonders of pharmaceuticals.) Thus far, Meghan has been quite content to spend her time sucking her fist, escaping from her blankets or sleeping with Mom, Dad and Grandma S.

I haven't yet been able to put together any pictures to post to the site, but as soon as I do I'll make sure they're available.

For those in the Toronto area (or those who have a passion for driving into Toronto during rush hour traffic) Marcie and Meghan (as well as myself for the most part) will be staying at Women's College Hospital. Visiting hours are from 3:30 to 8:30 on weeknights and we will likely be staying until Thursday morning (so tomorrow night we will likely be there...)

Baby Time

We just got word that we're to be induced later today. Apparently there was some concern about Marcie's kidneys. We've been assured that it's nothing major so all should be well, however this does mean that sometime over the next 36 hours we'll be having a baby...

So, if all goes well, the next post here will include baby pictures...

First posting - welcome!

Welcome to the Schwindt blog. I'll be trying this out to see how effective it is. The gist of this blog is to share information, pictures, thoughts, whatever else with our family and friends. I will be posting for sure, and perhaps I can convince Marcie (and eventually Meghan?) to post as well. Well, that's all for now, shortly I'll be uploading pictures from some of our recent events...
