It's Racing Day
We were a bit plagued by rain storms on racing day(s) this year. Pics are limited, but Meghan had fun running in the rain

Best Toy Ever
Ownership of this box has been widely contested between Meghan and Princess. For the moment, the cat has the law of possession on her side ;)

Fun in the snow
Last week we were expecting a snow day that just never came to fruition. By Thursday, Meghan was getting antsy and was ready to take one whether everybody else did or not. On that morning, the trees were covered in snow and the whole way to school, she kept saying things to me like "Mom, I don't need to go to school today. Let's go to the park instead. We can take pictures of the trees."
It broke my heart to have to say no. But I did. And when we got to school, I sought out her teacher to find out if there was any way the class could have an outdoor gym or nature walk or something. To my delight, I was greeted by a teacher that was on top of it. She had stopped at the grocery store on her way to school and already had a plan to take advantage of what might be a once-in-a-lifetime sight for her students (we rarely, if ever, get that kind of snowfall in my area. In fact, in my 15 years living in the area, I've never seen it here). Her curriculum dictated that she had to teach procedural writing that morning. So she did. Her students designed procedures for not only building snow sculptures, but also for decorating and displaying them in an enticing way.
Below is Meghan's snow cat sculpture, which she carried out from the forest to place in the school's front garden.
Kudos to Meghan's teacher for creatively working within the system to not only meet the needs of the required curriculum, but also the needs of her students in that moment. Also Kudos to her school's principal for allowing her to take that initiative.
Pretty spectacular sculpture for my 7 year old I think. Great job Meghan :)
