Vacation in the Soo

Recently we returned home from our yearly "vacation" in the Soo (Sault Ste Marie for those not from there and unfamiliar with the lingo). It seems that after Meghan's 1st birthday, Mommy and Daddy aren't so quick with the camera so we're lacking in photos for this post.

This, like all trips to the Soo, was an eventful one. We started our vacation by attending the O'Toole wedding. Congrats Bryan and Heather! Also special thanks to my Nana and Popa for flying in from Calgary to watch Meghan during the wedding.

The picture above is of the first of 2 trips to my parents' camp (translation: cottage). Meghan loved the boat and loved steering it. She practiced the night before on the fire truck at the mall, but she still kept going too far to the right. Good thing we didn't need a designated driver!

The second trip out to camp was for Christmas in July with my dad's family. It was a lot of fun, unfortunately, the only pictures I have are of Meghan playing in the water with David.

Happy 1st Birthday Meghan - June 21st

This is the best birthday gift ever! Thanks Mommy. Who needs toys, when a nice recycling box will suffice.

I sure do like this balloon!

What a great slide! I can hardly wait 'til Grandma and Grandpa come over so I can play on it with them!

Auntie Ruth bought me this really nice dresser and chair. It was built on my birthday but in 1941! I don't even think Grandma is that old...

...Mmmm.... this sure is good cake! What a great birthday!

Monkeying Around

Meghan's shows off a couple of her favorite stuffed animals.

p.s. I didn't pose her. She did this all on her own.

Mother's Day Brunch

Hello. This is Meghan Schwindt reporting live from the Mother's Day Brunch at the Riverbank Mill Restaurant. It's a beautiful Sunday here in Cambridge and we're spending the early part of this afternoon eating brunch with all the mommies. Come with me and I'll show you around.

Our table overlooks the Grand River. You can see it behind me in the picture on the right.

On the other side of the table is a window that overlooks the buffet. "Hey Dad! I'd like some of that watermelon please!"

While I'm waiting for some food, let's talk to some people.

"What do you think of the brunch here Great Grandma?"

"Would you recommend this brunch to others Grandma?"

Visiting The Children's Museum

Once a week, Meghan and Mommy visit Waterloo Region's Children's Museum. These pictures were taken in May just after Meghan started to walk.

That Much Closer to Walking

On her 10 month birthday, Meghan decided that it was time to start walking. At the time of this posting, she's up to 5 or 6 steps at a time. Needless to say, she is really excited about it!

I Can Feed Myself Mommy!

Being the big girl that she is, Meghan has decided that she no longer needs any help to eat. She prefers to do it herself.

Nice day to go to the park

Today Meghan's friend Lauren came for a visit. It was such a nice sunny day that they went to the park to play on the swings. I'm sure this was a lot more fun than it looked, especially once Mommy put down the camera and pushed instead of taking pictures.

They also had fun playing with Meghan's toys and stomping around upstairs while Daddy was trying to read. Soon, we hope, it'll be warm enough that the two of them will be able to play on the swings without eight layers of clothes!

Let's try this again...

I almost had a posting ready to go a few minutes ago until Meghan decided it would be fun to distract me by pulling all of the books out of our book shelf, and then while I was distracted, turned off the laptop...

However, this weeks picture is of Meghan reorganizing Grandpa Schwindt's CD collection while she was there last weekend.

This weekend her Grandma and Grandpa Walker are visiting, and we'll have to make sure that we have some good pictures for the blog. Last night she came with us to Montana's for dinner where she entertained all the wait staff by craning her neck to watch them as they went by.

In other news, Marcie and I are soon to be a two car family as we're just finalizing the paperwork for leasing a 2006 Hyundai Elantra five-door hatchback. This should make daytime lots of fun as Meghan has taken a real liking for the Waterloo Regional Children's Museum.

Almost forgot to add this, but for those interested, Uncle Mikey is now blogging about his experiences in the woods. Suffice to say it's an interesting read at times.

No Recent Pictures...

We've apparently been rather negligent in our photo taking of late, so some older photos that never made it to the blog before will have to suffice.

This is Meghan in her "popcorn" outfit when we last visited the Sault.

Luckily, she's with Grandma and Grandpa have her this weekend which means there should be lots of new pictures to post in the coming weeks...

Happy Valentines Day!

Meghan showing off her new Valentine's Day outfit courtesy of Grandma W. She also doesn't seem to realize yet that she can stand under her own power for up to five seconds at a time. Perhaps she'll be on skates this winter after all!

Cheering on Team Canada

Meghan cheering on her favourite hockey team and discovering her new favourite player, Meghan Agosta. Canada would win 12-0 over Russia and Agosta would score three goals on her nineteenth birthday. Just another 18 years and four months and perhaps another Meghan will break out with Team Canada...

Meghan had lots of fun on Christmas Eve.

Fun with the girls

Don't worry Grandma, I can be the designated driver...

Christmas 2005

Christmas 2005 was the best yet. Here's just a couple pictures from Christmas morning. There are more coming later....

After a full 2 days of opening and playing with toys. Meghan crashes.
